Scott L. Hines – Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer
Scott Hines was named Chief Executive Officer in 2022 upon Garen Cox’s retirement. Mr. Hines was appointed to the CFO position in June of 2008 to lead the company through system conversion and a restructuring process to reduce cost and improve services. Mr. Hines has over ten years of experience with a regional public accounting firm located in Kansas City, Missouri, and served as a senior manager providing audit and accounting services, general financial consulting, merger and acquisition, and various fraud investigation and litigation support services. He provided services for both public and nonpublic companies in a variety of industries: long-term health care, manufacturing, distribution, reinsurance and insurance agency, insurance brokerage, and engineering. Consulting services included due diligence evaluation and post-closing integration services on acquisitions.
Mr. Hines’ experience in dealing with complex financial and legal matters along with system conversion provides the skills to lead the financial management of the company. He joined the company in 2007 serving as corporate controller and quickly demonstrated his leadership skills and industry experience to expand his role.
Education
Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in accounting (1997).
Shannon Lager RN, BSN – Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Shannon was appointed Executive Vice President in 2022, having served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since 2016. Over the last 20+ years Shannon has held various positions in long term care including charge nurse, director and assistant director of nursing, administrator, clinical consultant, clinical director and chief clinical officer. Her experience includes work at large chain organizations, independently owned facilities and regional organizations. Shannon’s practical, hands-on experience at various levels within long term care have uniquely prepared her to effectively lead and manage the operations of Medicalodges. After having originally served in the roles of director of nursing and administrator from 2000 through 2005, Shannon rejoined Medicalodges in 2012 as the Director of Clinical Services and served as Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer from 2014 to 2016.
Shannon is active in the American Health Care Association having served on the Clinical Practice Committee. She is also active in the Kansas Health Care Association having served on the Education Committee and is a frequent conference speaker.
Shannon received a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing with a minor in sociology from Wichita State University in 1995 and in addition to long term care, has worked as registered nurse in acute care, in state level public health and for a major pharmaceutical company.
Teresa Coover RN, BSN – Vice President and Chief of Clinical Services
Teresa Coover RN, BSN, was named Chief of Clinical Services in 2022. She was previously Vice President and Director of Clinical Services for Medicalodges, Inc. since 2016. Teresa leads a clinical team of five nurses supporting Medicalodges communities in the delivery of excellent nursing care. Teresa started her career with Medicalodges as a director of nursing in 2010 and served as a nurse consultant for five years prior to her current role. She has worked in various roles in long term care and in assisted living communities. She is active in the American Health Care Association and the Kansas Health Care Association as a member of the education committee and the Nurse Advisory committee President. Teresa also participates in the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability survey consistency task force and is an NCLEX examination reviewer.
Teresa graduated from Neosho County Community College in 2005 with an Associate of Science degree in nursing and from Colorado Technical University of Nursing in 2013 with a Bachelor’s of Science in nursing. In addition to long term care, she has worked as an RN in acute care, home health and as an allied health instructor.
